If you’ve followed along with me for a while, you’ll know that my love for vintage rugs runs deep. The Mill has evolved over the past few years, but vintage rugs are one component that has remained a core element of my designs. Because I believe every space should be graced with these beauties, we’re launching our collection online! To celebrate the launch of our vintage rugs, I’m sharing some interior inspiration. In with the old, in every roomliving roomVintage rugs have a story and they are beckoning for more. Living rooms are for just that … living. Adding a layer of pattern and color can really help tie a space together and make it more inviting, yet relaxed. dining roomDon’t let the table and chairs do all the talking. Using a vintage rug in the dining room anchors the space together while also protecting those pretty floors. Make your guests feel right at home with a perfect rug to compliment your dining space. kitchenIn every home, the kitchen always seems to be the gathering spot. I’m no chef but I love any excuse to host my family and friends. Add a vintage runner in front of the sink or stove as a place to welcome those working feet. bedroomThe bedroom should be an oasis. Adding a small rug next to the bed or layering on top of jute/sisal is a great way to implement a cozy element to your bedroom. foyerThe entry to your home is like a first impression. Simply adding a vintage rug to your foyer brings a wow factor and helps transition guests into your home (and keeps the dirt from following). bathroomGoodbye generic bath mats! The durability of vintage rugs is a major perk for me. Trade in those flimsy bath mats for something with a little more interest and class. mudroomUnless you have muddy boots tromping inside, add a vintage rug to your mudroom to really make the space feel less like a cold, utility room. These vintage rugs have proven to stand the test of time, and are sure to add a warm, comfy addition to a typically neglected space.

Along with Maroon Jade, some other additions to this line include Pink Rhodonite, Brown’s Tiger Eye and a store favorite, African Tortoise. Ready to rep some some school spirit? Don’t miss the memo. Check out our lists of games below: In case you’ve blinked any time recently, you know that this year of 2018 has absolutely flown by and we are already getting in gear for a brand new school year and football season. It seems that this time of year inspires us to start fresh with the fall season and for some (most) of us, that can include adding a few new pieces to our wardrobe. That being said, we are excited to announce our involvement in Mississippi’s Tax Free Weekend this Friday July 27th + Saturday July 28th!
What this means for you : During this weekend, you will be able to load up on all apparel in store at The Mill : Design + Home priced below $100 and get it TAX. FREE. (yep, you read that right) This includes reduced marked items as well! For example, if you were to pick up a gorgeous, new jumpsuit off the sale rack that was originally $110 and we have it marked 30% off (making the new sale price $77) then you will get your sale item completely tax free! We’ve rounded up some of our favorite items that you can snatch up this weekend TAX FREE. LOVE TO SHOP BUT NEED TO PURGE?
Us too. And what better way than by donating to a good cause. Join us for our 2nd annual clothing drive benefitting Palmer Home for Children. From Tuesday, July 17th to Saturday, August 4th, donate new or gently used items at The Mill : Design + Home. Each 13 gallon bag donated earns you 5% off your purchase.* See below for more details. This year we're bringing even more heat! With new markdowns rolling out, you can use your discount on TOP of already reduced jewelry and apparel. That's up to 60% off your favorite items! While those savings already have our jaws dropped, the smiles and love the girls at Palmer Home will feel are worth so much more. Long distance relationships can be a doozy but working with these clients in Texas was a dream come true. Last spring, we first met with Client TX at The Mill during their visit to Mississippi. They had just moved to Lubbock, TX after a long stent (20+ yrs) of living outside the US and were in the market for a new home. Shortly after our initial consultation, they closed on a home and I was jetset to Lubbock.
What made this project so unique was that even though this couple was fresh into retirement, they were starting this journey with an absolute clean slate. Having devoted their lives to mission work, they were always on the move so owning a home was a new stage in life for them. Usually when working with clients, whether they know it or not, they have some idea or vision of what they are wanting us to achieve in their home. That was one of the most exciting aspects of this project. This couple’s focus has never been on their home but always on improving the lives of others. So, there were no Pinterest boards or magazine clippings. Our first meetings were solely based on establishing what they wanted out of their home and helping them discover their personal style (and of course, meshing the couple’s preferences together). After several months and a few minor renovations later, we were pretty excited to install Client TX’s new home. Move over minimalism, you've got a little bit of competition.
At The Mill, we tend to favor the basics and air on the side of minimalism when it comes to our wardrobe. However if there is one trend we'd ditch our roots for, it may be Statement Earrings. This year we are dying to add a pop to our ensemble with a little bit of colour and a whole lot of metal. We've rounded up some of our favorite statement earrings from the Kendra Scott Spring Collection that just landed at The Mill. Join us this Thursday with Courtney Hutchins Art for Sip Series No 7, "Abstracts Alive." Indulge in seasonal cocktails, shop and enjoy the exhibit by Courtney while she debuts a beautiful abstract painting live from 5-7 pm.
We love seeing art tie a space together, which is why we are excited to have Courtney at The Mill this Thursday. Watching/learning an artist's story & techniques connects you with a piece and their artwork. You all know we can't wait until Thursday to learn more about Courtney's story, so we sat down for a Q&A. We all know who she is and she has just about everything. This year we've put together a guide to our favorites with those women in mind. From sentimental to the avid hostess, the bases are covered. Shop this gift guide in store at The Mill or give us a call to have your gift wrapped + ready for pick up.
